2007 Family Campout - Greensboro Pack 316
Battlefield District’s Annual Cub Family Campout
911, Cubs to the Rescue
September 29th – 30th, 2007
Camp Site - "Wolf Den"
Come capture the fun of scouting with us in our annual Cub Family Campout’s “911, CUBS TO THE RESCUE!”
Saturday activities will include theme related activities, crafts, and/or games provided by Battlefield District’s very own Cub Packs. We will stay together as an organized pack and/or dens for these “Midway” events. Free time activities include Fishing (at Pirates’ Cove/Pirate Ship and the Long House Dock), hiking, and a nap (if you dare!). 2 deep leadership at any activity is required.
Early Set-up time begins after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28th. This is optional. Call Tom Franklin at 707-9676 if you plan to come down Friday night so we can let Jarrod Holmes know at the Scout Office.
Saturday Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 10:00 a.m. We signed up for "Wolf Den" campsite. Sunday Morning Chapel Service is at 9:00 a.m. Activities end at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Our campsite and designated bathhouse will be inspected prior to our leaving. We must remove ALL trash from our site, so bring trash bags. A dumpster is located behind the camp Dining Hall. We want to be environmentally prudent so bring your "washable bowl/plate/cup/utensils (clearly labeled with your name) for all meals. A wash station will be available in our campsite. No dish washing in restroom sinks (BSA policy). Paper containers break down easier than plastic.
Cost is $20.00 per family (make check payable to Pack 316). This fee includes a patch for your scout, Saturday lunch, (a "Hurry-up dog" . . . we don’t won’t to miss the opening ceremony at 12:00 noon, You may bring your own lunch Saturday if "dogs" aren’t your desire), participation in Saturday’s activities:
Saturday night’s FEAST of our famous "Squirrel Egg Stew" (eggs "speared" by our own Webelos II’s), yummy cobblers after the campfire program.
Sunday morning "Pancakes on the Grill." Everyone should also bring one breakfast item for Sunday morning to be shared with Pack 316’s "rescue crew" to complete our "Shoney’s breakfast." (yummy!)
Please bring the following designated food item:
New Tigers: Muffins/Bagels
Wolves: OJ/Milk and eggs
BEARS: Fruit and/or Cereal
WEBELOS I’s: Eggs and several loaves of bread for French toast
WEBELOS II’s: Bacon and Sausage
Please be sure to bring extra food and drinks just for your family should they get hungry or thirsty during the day or night
We encourage you to dress in theme related attire during the activities on Saturday.
Class A Uniforms should be worn at the Sunday morning Non-Denominational Chapel Service.
Closed-toed shoes must be worn in camp at all times.
There will be a "SPIRIT STICK AWARD" for the Pack that demonstrates spirit, teamwork, and a great attitude throughout the day on Saturday. WE GOT THE SPIRIT, WE JUST NEED TO SHOW IT THAT DAY by having a GREAT attitude all day long (even if it’s hot and humid, or rainy, or we’re hungry and thirsty).
EVERY PERSON attending the Cub Family Campout MUST submit a "Class 1" Health Form. This is BSA policy.
Vehicles will be allowed in the campsite to unload and load only (stay on the camp road while unloading/loading). All vehicles must park in designated parking areas. Friendly "officials" will be available to direct you. Be kind to them, please. They are there for everyone’s safety and protection. All roads in camp are one way, please travel in the correct direction. Obey posted speed limits.
Open fires are allowed ONLY in the fire rings and must be attended by an adult at ALL TIMES. Two fire safety buckets, filled with water, should be by both fire rings. UPDATE: At the present time, we are under a FIRE BAN!
If you are qualified in First Aid and/or CPR, please let us know.
We will also need "cooks" for Saturday’s lunch, supper, and Sunday’s breakfast.
It will be the responsibility of all families to keep our campsite clean and safe.
Two-deep leadership required at all times and the buddy system is a MUST! Children should not roam camp by themselves.
A Saturday Night Campfire program at the Council Ring Amphitheater will begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. Be sure to bring your flashlight. It gets really dark! We will need a Pack song/cheer/yell or skit. If you would like to volunteer to help us with our Scout spirit, give us a "yell."
NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED ON CAMP PROPERTY. SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED IN OUR CAMPSITE. No Pets, please.
You can TREK IN all the CHOCOLATE and COCA COLA products you want, but it MUST be shared (with me).
